The arts have a way of illuminating lives… They have been shown to develop a foundation for ingenuity in children, aid the healing process for the sick, and create a wealth of economic opportunity.
With the stress of a challenging economic climate and uncertain employment, it is more important than ever to nourish our spirit and find happiness in the small joys of life.
As a resident of Rhode Island, whether or not you consider yourself to be a “patron” of the arts, you directly benefit from our thriving arts and cultural community.
The Arts & Business Council of Rhode Island [A&BC/RI] exists to support our state’s rich and vibrant arts industry by helping artists, arts organizations, and businesses come together to create the fusion that defines a creative community.
According to a recent study*, the nonprofit arts and culture industry in Providence generates:
¨ Almost $112 million in local economic activity.
¨ 2,759 full-time equivalent jobs and $56 Million in household income.
¨ $71 million in event-related spending by audiences.
¨ $11 million in local and state government revenue.

Since 1989, the programs and services of the A&BC/RI have helped to expand the role of the creative sector’s impact on our economic, new business and tourism development, assuring Rhode Island's economic competitiveness and quality of life.
I am writing today because we need your help to ensure that our vibrant, creative community is always a part of life here in Rhode Island.
