ArtTix is a new service of A&BC/RI that will provide a comprehensive information, marketing and ticketing service for arts and cultural organizations in Providence, the state of Rhode Island and South Eastern New England.

Grand Opening!
The ArtTix Grand Opening was held May 6, 2003 at the Kennedy Plaza Transportation Center. Special guests included Governor Donald Carcieri & Mayor David Ciccilline. Guests enjoyed performances by the Providence Black Repertory Company, All Children's Theatre, Yourbua 2, and Trinity Repertory Company.


ArtTix is a source
...a new way of disseminating information about all thatís happening in Rhode Islands cultural community with a continuous calendar of events from around the state.
It is an opportunity to introduce residents and visitors, season ticket subscribers and single ticket buyers, prospective new businesses and long time employers to the stellar arts and cultural programming Rhode Island has to offer.

ArtTix is a box office
....a way to get tickets for those events, organizations and venues that donít have formalized box offices and for those that do, an offering of limited seats to round out the players.
ArtTix will have a staffed ticket office in the new Kennedy Plaza intermodal transportation center terminal as well as as a self service automated info and ticket terminal there, a website, phone service and remote-site Project RI kiosks around the state.

ArtTix will make it easier
....for people to attend events that they might not have gone to for lack of knowledge due to the inconvenience of having to search out the venues/events listings.

ArtTix Features

Box Office:
The ArtTix booth occupies approximately 250 square feet at the centrally-located Intermodal Transportation center at Kennedy Plaza. It features an exterior walk-up window facing the northwest side (Biltmore Hotel/City Hall) of the plaza, two interior information/ticketing windows and rack/card display areas for participating organizations to post information on current and upcoming events and performances.

Additional Marketing Opportunities:
ArtTix will secure a combination of paid and unpaid advertising and promotional membership services through our media partners and other outlets. Marketing components will includes:

OnLine, Full Service Box Office and Calendar of Events:
Anyone can access arts and cultural information as well as purchase tickets from their home or work 24 hours a day, seven days a week through ArtTix's secure on-line box-office. At viewers and prospective ticket buyers have a wide range of directory service options to choose from, including links, event search, booth information, today's events, season schedules, educational programs, gift certificates, FAQ and contact info. Additionally, there is a seamless link to members' web sites.

Search Page
All inquiries are searchable on the ArtTix search page by location, type of performance, date and quick searches such as family-friendly or signed interpreted. The search page will post to a search result page.

Member Information Page
Viewers may select a show or event and click through to a member information page displaying details about the venue, organization or event, show running times, as well as directions, nearby parking, restaurants and handicap accessibility. The member information page contains links to member websites, an "add to cart" option, and a register and check out page.

Register Page
Once viewers have decided to purchase tickets to an event or venue, they click through and log in to our user registration page that will capture their information and credit card number as well as give them a chance to forward event information to a friend. Their submitted information will be logged. Payment will be processed and the order confirmed. Participating box offices and organizations will receive a report from ArtTix that will list the names of the customers and the number of tickets they have purchased. Consumers will only have to register once and will be remembered by the ArtTix system for all future visits, ensuring that every visit is a fast and friendly experience!

Electronic Touch Screen Kiosk Network:

This aspect of the service is possible through our partnership with The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, and will directly link the ArtTix box office to free-standing, strategically located visitor information/services kiosks. The kiosks are phone-enabled and have full communications capability, allowing users to retrieve information on arts and cultural events as well as purchase tickets through a secure server over the Internet or over the kiosk's built-in phone.

There are currently three kiosks at RIPTA transit centers in Providence, Newport and Pawtucket; five kiosks in the city of Providence (Biltmore, Westin, Holiday Inn, Marriott and CVB visitor's center). Current negotiations include three kiosks to be installed in 2003 at the Providence Place Mall. A&BC/RI is working closely with the Chamber to promote greater distribution of the kiosks throughout the state at other Chambers, tourist and visitor's centers as well as other attractions. Additionally, A&BC/RI will work to cross-promote kiosks with restaurants, hotels and other attractions.
